Blowing the dust off of games

A fellow gaming friend told me that she plays mostly with her DS and PSP since she had her little boy, as it's easier to pick up and put down. Today is the first day I've had since Gabriel was born (oh by the way, he was born May 30th... hence my month long absence Smile) to even think about playing games, so I tried out her theory with my DS and Puzzle Quest. I'm just a few quests away from completing the game, so it seemed like the best choice. And my friend was right. Gabriel woke up a little early from his nap, and it was so easy to just close my DS mid-game before attending to him. If I was playing KH2 (waaahh... I'm NEVER going to finish that game), I would have to pause -- hopefully not in the middle of a boss fight -- attend to Gabriel, and either find a minute to quickly save my game and turn off the system or just leave it paused for a few hours until he naps again or Shawn can relieve me of parenting. The latter would waste electricity, possibly overheat my console (especially if it was the PS3), risk a power outage wiping out my progress, and add hours to my game clock. Yes, I am anal enough to want an accurate game clock.

I am immensely relieved that gaming won't entirely be on hold. However, I'm ready to find time for my console gaming as well. I probably won't fulfill my New Year's resolution to finish KH2 and Twilight Princess this year, but I'd like to at least finish KH2 and start on Zelda. Not to mention that there are other console games I'd like to play. At least I have a couple of DS games to keep me preoccupied and I did get FF7: Core Crisis for the PSP before I went into labor. I should have enough to mull me over until I'm able to fire up the consoles again.
